Achieving TPN registration and full content security compliance for a Paramount distribution partner
A post-production facility distributing content for Paramount was flagged as non-compliant during a studio audit and given six weeks to reach TPN Registered status or lose the contract. Wisely delivered a full TPN assessment, gap remediation plan, and compliance programme that brought them across the line on time.
The facility had been working with Paramount for several years when a routine studio security review identified gaps against the TPN (Trusted Partner Network) framework. With a contract renewal and new title pipeline at stake, they needed to achieve TPN Registered status fast. They had no in-house security expertise and no prior experience with TPN assessments.
The challenge
TPN assessments cover physical security, network architecture, access controls, watermarking, and operational procedures across the entire content handling workflow. The facility had strong production capabilities but their IT and security posture had not kept pace with the requirements of major studio distribution. Key gaps included inadequate network segmentation, missing endpoint controls, no formal access review process, and undocumented content handling procedures.
Our approach
Wisely's TPN-accredited assessors conducted a full site assessment against the MPA Content Security Best Practices framework, covering physical, logical, and procedural controls. We produced a prioritised gap analysis report and worked directly with the facility's technical and operations teams to build a remediation plan achievable within the six-week window. Every recommendation was scoped and sequenced to maximise compliance coverage in the time available.
Implementation
Remediation covered network segmentation between production and business systems, deployment of endpoint protection across all workstations handling content, implementation of a formal access control and joiner-mover-leaver process, watermarking for digital screeners, physical security upgrades to the content storage area, and documentation of content handling procedures aligned to MPA requirements. Wisely coordinated directly with the TPN assessor body throughout.
Outcomes
The facility achieved TPN Registered status within the six-week deadline. The studio distribution contract was retained and subsequently expanded. The facility now operates a documented content security programme and has the internal capability to maintain compliance on an ongoing basis. Wisely continues to support them as their managed security partner, providing quarterly reviews and TPN maintenance ahead of each studio renewal cycle.
