Enterprise media archiving,
built for scale.
Archiware P5 is the industry standard for M&E data management, covering archive, backup and synchronisation in a single suite. As a certified Archiware partner, Wisely designs, installs and supports P5 environments for production houses, broadcasters and post-production studios.

The P5 Suite
Archive. Backup. Clone.
Three modules, one platform. P5 secures your media using the A-B-C of data management, each module can run independently or be combined into a multi-step protection strategy.
Module
P5 Archive
Make room for tomorrow.
Move inactive projects from expensive primary storage to LTO tape or cloud, while keeping them instantly searchable and restorable. Scales to petabytes and billions of files.
Key capabilities
- Drag-and-drop archiving and restore
- Incremental archive, only new or changed files
- AES-256 encryption, hardware-accelerated in LTO drives
- Project Restore via EDL, FCPXML, OTIO and ALE
- Pre-built integrations: Pomfort, EditShare, Kyno, CatDV, Streamline and more
Module
P5 Backup
High-performance backup. Made in Germany.
Server backup to disk, LTO tape and cloud with true incremental capability, rename detection, and browser-based management from any location.
Key capabilities
- True incremental backup, only new and modified files
- Rename detection, no redundant re-upload of unchanged data
- Backup dry-run: compare storage before committing
- Tape cloning for offsite redundancy
- Supports AWS S3, Azure, Wasabi, Backblaze and more
Module
P5 Synchronize
Clone data for high availability.
Replicate servers, RAIDs and SANs to local or cloud destinations. Immediate failover, no restore needed. Unlimited storage licensing; no cost penalty as data grows.
Key capabilities
- No restore required, mirrored data is immediately available
- ZFS and BtrFS snapshot support
- Scheduled bandwidth throttling during working hours
- Cloud sync to any S3-compatible target
- Disk-to-disk-to-tape combined with P5 Backup
How it works
The full media data lifecycle.
From active shoot to long-term archive, P5 manages every stage of the storage lifecycle in a single, integrated workflow.
Active Production
Media lives on high-speed SAN or NAS during active production.
Near-line Sync
P5 Synchronize mirrors active storage to a secondary location, immediate failover, no restore.
Backup
P5 Backup runs true incremental backups to disk or tape on a policy-driven schedule.
Archive
Completed projects move to LTO tape or cloud via P5 Archive, freeing primary storage.
Search & Restore
Browse the archive index, search by metadata, and restore via EDL, FCPXML, or OTIO project files.

Disk → Disk → Tape (3-2-1 architecture)
Combine P5 Synchronize and P5 Backup in a single policy: replicate current files to a secondary disk for fast restore, while automatically migrating older completed projects to LTO tape for cost-effective long-term storage. The industry standard 3-2-1 rule, three copies, two media types, one offsite.
Storage targets
Archive to tape, cloud,
or both.
P5 supports every major storage target, on-premises LTO tape libraries, all major cloud providers, and local disk pools. Mix and match to build a cost-optimised, redundant storage architecture.

Security & integrity
- AES-256 hardware encryption in LTO drives
- xxHash 64/128-bit checksum verification (3× faster)
- Media Hash List (MHL) manifest support for LTFS data
- LTFS open standard, ISO/IEC 20919:2016 compliant
